Rhian Stanton
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My role as well as a counsellor is an EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and the Talking Therapies Manager at North East Wales Mind. I have been with North East Wales Mind since 2017.
Some areas I have worked with
I have experience of working with anxiety, abuse, stress, anger, low self-esteem, relationships, shame and trauma and many other issues you may want to bring to the sessions.
Approaches
Whilst Person Centred Counselling is my foundation, I draw on a range of approaches according to the client needs and their particular issue, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and SFT (Solution Focused Therapy).
As each client is uniquely, different counselling methods may be used to help the client gain insight into what is going on. Creative interventions may be offered, bringing the client’s experience to life in a way that words alone may not. Examples are with art and colour, sand, poetry, nesting dolls, metaphors, imagery and stories.
As a Counsellor
The most rewarding part of my job is helping and seeing people understand, resolve or/and manage problems that cause emotional pain.
About me
For my welling I enjoy being outdoors and walking either in the country or in an urban environment. Music and Art are also very important to me. I have previous experience of working in an educational environment.
