Brian

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Some areas I have worked with
I work with clients who are experiencing some form of emotional distress or vulnerability which often presents as, for example; stress, anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, loss or relationship issues.

Approaches I use
I was trained as a Person Centred therapist and this is the foundation of my approach to counselling. It is client led, which means the client sets the agenda and the pace of the therapy. My practice is underpinned by the belief that people are experts in their own lives and my role is to accompany clients as they explore the aspects that bring them to therapy.

As a Counsellor
My practice is characterised by an equality between counsellor and client. As a counsellor I am empathetic, genuine and non-judgemental and this creates an environment that facilitates clients’ ability to explore and understanding. Leading to a greater awareness of themselves, which in turn can provide them with motivation to make the changes they want.

About me
In my free time I like to connect with the natural world. Whether it be through the silence of a forest, the wind on a hill top or the sight of waves rolling up a beach. These things remind me of my place in the scheme of things.
